We had a great time with runners and visitors at the first OAKtoberfest and fun run this fall– and are making plans for similar events in the spring and fall of 2018!
On October 28, 2017, Friends of the National Arboretum and the Washington Youth Garden presented the first annual fall festival for the 2017 OAKtoberfest and 5k Fun Run at the U.S. National Arboretum. The 5k course showcased DC’s amazing fall foliage while winding through forests and fields- all on paved, uninterrupted paths. Visitors could stay the rest of the afternoon for a children’s tree climb, walking and bicycle tours, food trucks, and live music!
This fall festival hosted by the Friends of the National Arboretum was free but the 5k Fun Run required registration. Check-in for the 5k began at 8:00am. OAKtoberfest ran from 11:00am – 4:00pm. Please enter through the R street NE Gates (GPS: 2400 R St. NE, Washington, DC 20002)
Weather Policy: In the event of light rain, the 5k Fun Run will continue as scheduled. If the Friends of the National Arboretum cancels the 5k Fun Run due to unsafe conditions or threat of inclement weather, you will be contacted by email and offered a refund.
